A Fantastic Party Activity Camera

I agree with what has been said, that this camera is bulky and large. But hey, weren't all the ancient Polaroid cameras somewhat large and bulky? You don't but this kind of camera to pack in your pocket when you're on the run. The camera size got a few laughs, but hey, that in fact helped draw attention to it and made the camera get more use at my party.
Having said that about size, the Fuji Instax 200 is a fantastic party camera. Place it out on a table at a party and encourage your guests to pick it up and snap away. Fantastic thought - place a photo album next to the camera with pens and stickers and other scrapbooking equipment and encourage people to straight away turn their cinema into a scrapbook memory for the birthday person or retiree or whoever you're throwing a party for.
Picture quality is pretty darn excellent for an second camera. At my party we had a Fuji Instax 200 and a Polaroid 600 in use and the Fuji cinema were much clearer, sharper, and more quaint. It is a very simple camera to use too. Just choose one of two space choices, one of three light settings and then shoot. A few seconds later you have an second memory.
I find the film to be somewhat pricey at about $1 per picture. You can get it for about .75 cents per picture if you buy film in bulk. So far I've only found film online at Amazon and the Lomography shop. So plot ahead and order enough film to make it through a few events.
Fantastic camera. Not really for the "take it along on vacation" attention, but if you're looking for that, Fuji makes a smaller Instax 25 (for about triple the price though). |
This camera saved my father!!

| My 91 year ancient father was devastated when Polaroid stopped making film. Taking cinema is one of the things he is still able to do, and he likes it. I bought this camera and some film, just to try. Dad is one who despises change, so he seemed despondent when it was first opened. But, after a week or so, now he's a pleased photographer again. The picture is wider than Polaroid, and the camera is quite a bit larger, but he adjusted. Has a slight zoom, which I doubt Dad will ever use, and a built in flash. My choices were between a digital and laser Laser printer for him, or this. This was certainly the better choice. He would never have tried to learn to use even a simple digital, and it's enough like the Polaroid that he's very pleased. |

| I bought this camera from Samy's Camera store as a birthday gift for my dad and he likes it. You can brighten or darken cinema and change the shooting space with the touch of one button and batteries were included. It takes very nice cinema and it is very simple to use. It is a nice substitution for his ancient Polaroid second camera he bought back in the 70's. It is a very excellent product for its price. |
Better than Polaroid cinema

This film is wide and fun and has for most intents and purposes have replaced my Canon 20D SLR as my go to camera. This camera is not compact at all and is rather bulky and certainly sticks out but I reckon it has fantastic control and has excellent feel to it even with its obvious toy-like plastic build. It in fact is pretty durable and has withstood a few hits with no cosmetic and most significantly technical hurt. Loading the film is simple and it is certainly cheaper to buy than polaroid film. The flash isn't very strong though so you have to be very WARY of light when taking cinema.
The wide format film makes it so worth it though. |
Used it for our Wedding Guest Book

| I bought this instead of tracking down an ancient Polaroid. I wanted to be able to take second photos of everyone who attended our wedding. We affixed the photos to premade cards for guests to fill out. It was a hit and tons of people used the camera without any problems or glitches with refilling the cartridges. Its pretty simple to use! Photo quality is as best as it could be for a poorly lit room and an second camera. |
